Dana Lis :: Nutritional Specialist

Dana Lis is currently a UBC Dietetic Intern at the Vancouver General Hospital. Aside from her role in an Acute Care, Dana focuses on her passion, which is to help others create healthy and balanced lifestyles. As a Personal Trainer, college nutrition Course Instructor and Nutritional Specialist, she incorporates both the dietary and physical components of vibrant living into teaching. As an educator she is able to share her belief that every part of our lives can be made more satisfying when a healthy physical and mental states are maintained.

Her diverse athletic background, specifically in competitive road cycling, backcountry skiing and mountaineering enables her to apply experienced based approaches to nutritional teaching and counseling. Being a competitive athlete and goal-oriented person, Dana fully identifies with the challenges involved in balancing life and nutritional well-being. She applies an individualized goal-based approach to nutritional counseling to help clients and friends gain maximum energy and health benefits.

Her career goals include developing expertise in two different areas:

  • Family and Pediatric Nutrition and Sports Nutrition for athletes, which extends to the specific requirements of
  • Backcountry athletes such as mountaineers. Through life-long learning in this unique niche, she aims to motivate others to create balanced and successful lives.

 

Ben Newman :: Personal Trainer :: Pillars of Health

Ben has dedicated his life to a world of health after a 20 year dream of becoming a professional footballer (soccer player) was shattered by multiple injuries. This, plus a multitude of personal revelations spawned his interest in the fitness and health industry. Since, he has worked in just about every aspect of these industries. His experience ranges from working with professional athletes, aspiring Olympians, clientele within the film industry to basic injury rehabilitation.

He has worked as a medic, alongside an elite physio/rehab team, in a personal training studio and in a membership gym. He has worked in multiple provinces and in the UK. Ben has been working within the personal training industry since graduating from the University of Alberta with his Bachelors degree in Phys. Ed in 2003.

B’ (as he is affectionately called by his friends) is always striving to move forwards in his own personal health and fitness, and is personally a testament to his research! He hopes his upcoming book will inspire as many people as possible and empower them to change their lives for the better… permanently! It is his contribution to the world around him and is certain to be an instant success!

Dr. Debbie Wright, DC :: Chiropractor :: Thrive Wellness Centre

Dr. Debbie Wright obtained her Bachelors of Science (Kinesiology) at Simon Fraser University, where she was a member of the Varsity Swimming team. She then attended and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto before returning to become a chiropractor in Vancouver.

Dr. Wright combines soft tissue therapy and traditional chiropractic adjustments to improve the function and health of her patients.

She supplies comprehensive treatment in-office, and provides home stretching and strengthening exercises in order to maintain improvements and prevent the re-occurrence of injuries.

Dr. Wright is currently serving a three-year term as Vice President on the BC Chiropractic Association Board of Directors. In her spare time, she enjoys ultimate frisbee, swimming and snowboarding.
