KARLEY (aka. Bike Fox)
Former nationally ranked Canadian Mountain Cross Country Cyclist, Karley Cunningham, makes her return to the race scene in no small way by choosing the BC Bike Race.
“I’m totally stoked, given that doing either this event, or the Trans Rockies, has been one of my life goals. After I left racing 4 years ago, it’s something I never thought I would accomplish. And even though it’s never left the back of my mind, when I made the snap decision to register, I confirmed to myself that I have lost my marbles! Go BIG or go home, baby!” she says with a glowing smile.
Karley is a well known and well respected spin instructor at the West Side Gym in Vancouver. Her instructor bio starts, ‘Karley will put you in your place…’ And it’s true, but it’s not as harsh as it first sounds. She makes it her mission to make sure that everyone of her students understands proper bike set up, and ride position to prevent repetitive strain injuries – something that plagues cyclists. She applies her training and race knowledge to her spin classes, and specializes in teaching the mental aspect of the sport – whether it be for competition or just keeping fit. She says, “Anyone can lead a spin class, but where you really see the rewards with your students is when their head gets in the game and they start to understand how the mind works with the rest of the body to achieve great results!” Karley’s favourite thing is to work with teams over the winter months helping them gain both physical and mental skills for the race season ahead.
Karley’s other passion is branding, web and business development. This all combines in her role as Creative Director and Partner of 3 Degrees West Communications, a full service design and marketing firm in Vancouver. Her work has been showcased both locally and around the world.
A force never to be underestimated, Karley always brings her A-game to the table, whether it be cycling or business, she is definitely driven by her passions and competitive in nature.
Vikki (aka. Steel Eagle)
We’re still working on figuring out the inner workings of this competitor, who says she’s not really all that competitive. What we do know so far is that statement is a complete cover up for a fire that burns white hot when challenged. We’ll tell the whole story when we find out a bit more…
Hi Vik, I’m joining up for ya and will forward the site to some of my patients who also train in different events.
Hope you are well.
